We held 15 editions of the Introductory Level and 6 of the Advanced Level. In 2025, we decided to take different paths and discontinue the coaching training. This page remains as a memory of a program that brought us so much, and, we hope, to the people who transformed themselves in it.

Realizámos 15 edições do Nível Introdutório e 6 do Nível Avançado. Em 2025 decidimos tomar rumos diferentes e interromper a formação em coaching. Para memória fica esta página de um programa que nos trouxe tanto, e, esperamos, às pessoas que nele se transformaram. 〰️
With over a decade training coaches, we have learned that coaching cannot be taught.
Introduction
With the Way Beyond Coaching Class (WBCC) program, we encourage an open process, without recipes and with a focus on the individual, in a profoundly transformational discovery and learning. That is, we seek to go far beyond a coaching program.
Our renowned coaching training approach is now more robust and more personalized: teaching how to learn.
In the WBCC program, we help our students understand the approach and, above all, how this practice can transform us and transform the world around us.
The program
The learning path of our program is divided into two levels: Introductory and Advanced.
The combination of the two levels is intended to provide knowledge learning and development that can be applied by our students as professional coaches at the end of the training process.
Both levels incorporate, in a balanced way, a wide variety of practices supervised by certified coaches in order to ensure that the students not only know the skills and distinctions at the conceptual level, but also know how to put them into practice.
In both levels of the program, participants have the opportunity to play the role of coachee and coach, and to experience first-hand situations likely to arise in the actual practice of the profession.
The dimension of our classes promotes a continuous interaction between participants and our teachers. Way Beyond's pedagogical focus is based on experiential learning, combining conceptual learning with ongoing practical activities.
Our Program (Introductory + Advanced), with around 240 hours of synchronous and asynchronous moments, is based on the development of a "learning culture" grounded in four fundamental principles:
The program includes the development of different skills that, according to the International Coach Federation, a good coach must master, with listening being not the only skill, but the first one to develop.
Participants lead their personal and professional development process;
In order to do this, they are invited to identify and explore challenges, opportunities, strengths, and areas for improvement, with the purpose of promoting evolution and stimulating their own change and growth and/or of their teams;
The entire process is closely monitored by our teachers who provide personalized supervision and feedback at various moments throughout the Program.
One of the pillars of our program is the development of a "learning culture".
Why do we design it?
After learning how to train coaches, for over a decade, with excellent teachers and even better students, we have gathered enough experience and desire to create a program entirely tailored to our needs.
Drawing on the rich heritage of the past, combining it with research, methodologies and ideas of the present, we wanted to design a program that would be part of the future of this practice.
And the future of coaching, like its present and its past, is eclectic, we believe. That's why we say that this program is much more than a coaching program.
Who is it for?
The Program is intended both for people who want to develop their training in coaching, and for any professional who wishes to improve their performance, interpersonal relationships with their team, or their leadership skills.
What to expect?
To know, to develop, and to embody the core competencies that a professional coach must master;
To enhance your personal and professional development through increased attention and sensitivity to interpersonal relationships;
Receive feedback and constant monitoring throughout the Program, which allows for an increase in self-awareness and in the identification of strengths and areas to be developed;
To become a person who understands that achieving results comes through understanding the meaning of what we do and who is committed to being a better person and a better professional and a craftsman of the development of the teams to which he/she belongs.
Accreditation
The Way Beyond Coaching Class Program is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as Approved Coach-Specific Training Hours (ACSTH), in all of its 239 hours. This means that students who successfully complete our program will be able to use our diploma to apply for ACC or PCC certification levels, through ACSTH applications.
Introductory Level: creating solid foundations
Objectives
The Introductory Level of the Way Beyond Coaching Class training allows participants to begin developing the skills that any professional coach should master.
The sessions in this introductory program focus on learning the fundamental grounds of coaching.
At this level, participants practice what they are learning and experience firsthand the benefits of coaching by being coachees.
Duration
The Program has a total duration of 60 hours: 40 class hours, distributed in five face-to-face sessions of one full day (8h); in the online version there are 10 sessions of 4h; 12h of study and assignments.
Identical to autonomous study, the tasks that participants have to perform are related to learning and must be carried out outside of school hours. These tasks are the subject of work in four individual coaching sessions (60 to 90´) that each participant maintains with a coach.
Professors
Way Beyond's instructors are all certified or in the process of certification by the ICF. They have solid and consolidated experience in coaching, as teachers, coaches and/or mentors.
At this level of the Program, we have João Sevilhano and Ângela Marçal as teachers, some members of the remaining WB team as coaches, and we also include other partner coaches whenever necessary.
Methodology
The entire training process of a coach consists of transformational learning, based on three fundamental pillars:
Practical sessions: each student experiences coaching as a coach;
Experiential training: learning happens through experimentation and practices that allow incorporating the coaching concepts and foundations, as well as developing leadership, communication and conversation skills.
Learning culture: the various learning moments throughout the program, from the teacher support, to the coaching sessions and the group/pair work with peers, allow the trainee to feel like the leader of their learning, development, and success.
Individual Assignements and Sessions
The assignments are essentially exercises of written reflection and of information collection from others. We believe that one should not go through a coaching program without first knowing who you are: looking at yourself as an observer of reality. This way, if we have the opportunity to see that we can change our "lenses", we will have an easier time working with a coachee. For this, each participant will be assigned a coach, with whom they will have 4 individual sessions outside the class hours.
Contents
Despite having a conceptual and thematic alignment, the sessions are not "packaged." The development of the themes adapts to the needs and characteristics of each group and their respective participants.
We present the blocks of themes that will be addressed and developed throughout the program, not necessarily in the order presented.
Perspectives on coaching: History and context; what it is and what it is not; theoretical-practical background, etc.
The qualities of a coach: qualities vs skills; ICF skills.
The Ontological Approach: the role of language; the transformational perspective of learning; the learning steps.
The coaching conversation for Way Beyond: types and phases of the conversation.
The importance of the relationship.
Listening and asking questions.
The design applied to coaching.
Feedback: a conversation tool.
The role of thoughts, the body, and emotions.
Advanced Level: To be a coach
Objectives
The Advanced Level of the Way Beyond Coaching Class program allows the student: to consolidate and deepen the coaching skills acquired in the Introductory Level; to know, assimilate and put into practice some coachingmethodologies and techniques ; to learn how towork with the commitment of people and teams and to involve them in the achievement of goals.
Duration
The program has a minimum duration of 145 teaching hours, spread over 19 face-to-face sessions (mostly full 8-hour days), taking place over 6 to 7 months. Participants will have to carry out different tasks related to what has been learned, outside the class time, for a total of approximately 20 hours. They will also have a minimum of 15 coaching sessions (10 as coach and 5 as coachee) distributed between supervised sessions in class (3), sessions supervised by the mentor individually (minimum of 3), or unsupervised sessions (minimum of 4).
Access
The Advanced Level is for all people who want to be coaches and who have successfully completed the Introductory Level of this program. It is aimed at all those who want to become certified in coaching and practice as professional coaches, as well as for Entrepreneurs and Managers of any area, who want to put into practice the skills and tools of coaching in their organizations and with their teams.
Methodology
Supervised coaching sessions: each student will experience coaching, as a coach; by acting as coaches, students learn to observe different points of view that provide new solutions.
Experiential training: learning happens through experimentation and practices that allow you incorporating the coaching concepts and tools, as well as developing leadership, communication and conversation skills.
Learning culture: during the program, the various learning moments, from the support given by teachers and mentors (each student will have an assigned mentor who will accompany him/her throughout the training process), to the supervised coaching sessions and group/pair work with peers, allow the student to feel the leader of his/her learning, development and success.
Beyond classes: mentoring
At this Level, each student will be accompanied on their learning journey by a mentor. The mentor should be present during the observation of the practical sessions, dedicating themselves to closely monitoring and offering regular feedback to the student, thus facilitating their evolution and transformation during the program. Each student must also send the mandatory assignments (estimated at around 20 hours of work) and reports of the practical sessions carried out as a coach (a minimum of 10 sessions) to the mentor. Thus, the student will have the opportunity to receive individual feedback from their mentor regarding the assignments submitted, after each session observed by their mentor, and in 3 more moments dedicated exclusively to student support. In classes dedicated to practical sessions, there will also be a group mentoring moment facilitated by the mentor/teacher in the room.
In addition to the practical sessions as a coach, each student will be required to make time for a process of 5 coaching sessions (as a coachee) with a colleague from the program.
Professors and Mentors
Most of Way Beyond's instructors are certified or in the process of certification by the ICF. They have solid and consolidated experience in coaching, as teachers and coaches. Way Beyond's mentors (João Sevilhano, Ângela Marçal, Paulo Baptista da Silva, Pedro Arbués) are senior coaches with PCC (Professional Certified Coach) certification from the ICF.
